International Relations

The School has always been very aware of the importance of maintaining relations with foreign universities, so that the better equipped students are entitled, if they so wish, to study abroad for an academic year. This form of global training implies undoubted advantages for the student with these kinds of experiences: contact with other cultures and other teaching methods, as well as the perfection of a determined foreign language.

There are currently exchange agreements with more than thirty universities, both European (Aachen, Bristol, Coventry, Dresden, Exeter, Leeds, Liège, Lyon, Loughborough, Porto, Rome, among others) and North American (North Carolina, Miami, Oregon and Wisconsin), in which over 400 students have participated, this way consolidating the participation of the School in the Socrates-Erasmus network, along with bilateral Agreements promoted by the University of Cantabria.

One of the of the most outstanding exchange programmes is the “Joint Degree Agreement” signed with the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris the oldest and most prestigious school of civil engineering in Europe. Also worth a special mention is the collaboration agreement with the College of Engineering of the University of Cornell, one of the most internationally recognised schools in the field of Engineering, which has permitted the creation of a bilingual study programme for outstanding students from both institutions.

In addition, the School of Civil Engineering, Santander collaborates actively in prestigious international networks, such as the EUCEET (European Civil Engineering Education and Training) financed by the European Union Socrates programme, featuring education institutions and professional associations from the whole of Europe, with the aim to improve civil engineering education.
